The name of the procedure is self-explanatory. Its purpose is to lift the skin of the forehead and eye area giving the patient a more youthful appearance.

Surgical techniques in the past gave a good, but not very lasting result. Today, with the advancement of plastic surgery, face-lifting is a relatively easy procedure for both doctor and patient. The results can last for years or even indefinitely. Lifting of the forehead is often used for correcting saggy eyebrows, wrinkles and saggy skin in the outer corners of the eyes.

Who is a good candidate for undergoing forehead lifting?

Men and women alike, all ages. Older persons want rejuvenation, while younger people with genetically lower eyebrows can lift them using this procedure.

What are the risks?

All surgeries have risks and plastic surgery is no exception. Serious complications are minimal when the surgery is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon. Usually after such intervention patients report numbness in the area of the incision. This is due to parting of the scalp from the bone during surgery. Feeling in the area is regained in a few months.

What exactly is done during surgery?

The surgery can be done under local or full anesthesia. The duration is no less than two hours. The incision is made above the hairline. The skin of the forehead is treated and lightly pulled up. The extra skin is removed. There is no visible scar – it remains hidden in the hair. A bandage is used which is removed on the following day. It is possible to have swelling or bruises, which will heal in 10 to 15 days. Stitches are removed on the 10-12th day. The head can be washed in 48 hours with no ill effects. A 24-48-hour stay in the hospital is required. The patient may return to work in 10 to 15 days. All kinds of sports should be avoided for a month.

What is the price?

It can vary depending on the length of the surgery, the equipment used, the price of anesthesia and hospital stay.
